I am new to Wii modding although I have done over 20 Xbox 360 mods. My question is (and yes I read threads), If I get a regular Wii at my local Wal-Mart in the U.S., and then I backup games from the same local Wal-Mart with one of the drives to rip games with, they will always have the same region and always be able to work without bricking right? And would I still need to run updates?

Sorry if this is not the smartest of questions, but I am just now learning about Wii mods.

Yes. If your Wii and the games are all from the same region (ie. North America) then you will have no problem.

For certain games you will still need to update the system firmware though (via an on-disc update or over the Internet) in order for the game to play properly (or at all).

For some games you also need to update your WiiKey firmware... specifically for Super Mario Galaxy you need to flash the WiiKey's firmware to 1.9g beta.
