Hello,
I have been trying to make a back up copy of the US version of The Hoax, but it hasn't worked.
I have been using DVDFab version 3210.
Has anyone had any trouble with this DVD as well?
Any ideas on how to back it up?
Thanks a lot!!!

Hi mancislan
Update to the latest DVDFab - 4.0.1.2. This one has a 'little' tougher protection on it but DVDFab should handle it.
What's the error you get?

Thanks for the reply, binkie7!
I have tried DVDFab version 3210 and I just downloaded the free trial version of DVDFab Platinum. Both gave the same error.
It says:
DVDFab encounters a reading error (may be caused by copy protection) which can be removed by using PathPlayer, the technology we employed in DVDFab.
Please note when PathPlayer is enabled, opening a DVD may take up to several minutes.
Would you like to restart DVDFAb to enable PathPlayer for this DVD?
________________________________________________

When I click on "yes", the program takes me to a screen where I'm supposed to fill out my e-mail address, title of the DVD, and other basic info about the DVD.
Once that's filled out, an e-mail program pops up with a message that is supposed to be sent here: ifo@dvdfab.com
The subject is: IFO files - DVDFab Platinum 4.0.0.0 Beta
There is an attachment called The Hoax.zip (56.6KB)

But that doesn't seem like it's going to fix the problem. Am I wrong?
By the way, where can I download DVDFab version 4.0.1.2.?
One more thing: this is the second copy of The Hoax that I have tried to back up. When I tried with the first copy it gave me the exact same error. I thought that the disc was just defective, but having the same problem with this second copy makes that possibility quite unlikely.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You've download the pay version of the application, uninstall it and install the free version of DVDFab (version 4.0.1.2).

Here's the link
http://www.dvdfab.com/mlink/download.php?g=HDDECRYPTER

By the way:

The IFO files are sent for inspection so that application can be updated to decrypt the movie.

John gave the direct link, here's the download page for HD Decrypter at the DVDFab site. http://www.DVDFab.com/free.htm They've got the cute monkies. LOL

@mancislan
Anytime you run into a problem when doing a DVD backup, make sure you're using the latest version of decryption software. If the program is no longer supported, it becomes suspect.

Thanks for the info as well, PacMan777!
I'm afraid that this disc is also defective, because the new version of DVDFab just gave me the same type of error. This is not normal. I don't see what else could be happening. Oh well... thanks anyway, guys.

If it's calling for Pathplayer, run pathplayer with the latest version and see what happens. By the way, click the gear shaped icon at the top of DVDFab HD and copy the DVD info (from the Info window) and paste it here.

Binkie
I agree, but because an older version of AnyDVD will read the files doesn't mean transcoding software can process it. We saw that with our friend RAT. Structural protections are what DVDFab and the others have been updating to handle recently. The release has been out for about a month in the US, so the software companies have had time to update.

It would be interesting to run that one through RI4M one click. Gere isn't one of my favorite actors and Hoax isn't on my to buy list for now though.

I used Ripit4me ver. 1.7.1.0 and it worked without any problems. Give it a try. I am positive you won't be disappointed. It is a freeware. Here is the link: RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0 - Freeware Files.com - Audio & Video Category
