Hi...
I bought a used toshiba TV (old big fat square TV's)
and a used modded PS2 (Fat version) ...
the thing is as follows:
I connect my ps2 straight to the TV, i use the red, white, and yellow cable or whatever you guyz call them !
anywayz, everytime i start my playstation, the screen starts flickring, but when the game starts, everything is back to normal...
I can't access the PS menu... but when the game starts the screen gets fixed.
This also happens sometimes with some games...
Am using Fake cd's (DVD burned) only.. and i do not have any original cd's to try.
i think it has to do with colors
If anyone faced this before and was able to solve it PLZ PLZ tell me... any suggestions are highly appreciated.
i think your ps2 is an ntsc ps2 and ur tv is a pal or vice versa. your games play perfectly because your modchip "corrects" the video according to region for best viewing pleasure.

Thnx for replying ... i dont know if this helps .. The PS2 is from the Middle east(dubai) .. and the TV is from canada ...

hmm...im thinkin your ps2 is definately PAL then and ur TV is ntsc.
you can purchase a PAL-NTSC converter that attaches onto the back of your tv and it will display properly...that's the only way to go.
Or...buy a new tv/ps2?

I'm glad I helped. :) i'm looking forward to your reply, hopefully everything worked out. Although I don't think bestbuy carries ntsc/pal converters...try small electronic stores, they carry just about everything.
