my psp is running on 3.72 firmware, can i put games on to mem stick or do i need to change firmware

You should've searched for the answer.

Methods for FAT PSP:

1)Get the Pandora's Battery.
Downgrade using it.
From 1.50, upgrade to 3.52M33-4.

2)Upgrade to 3.71M33 directly using the Universal Unbricker V3(Despertar del Cementero.)

Methods for the Slim PSP:

1)Upgrade to 3.60M33 using the Universal Unbricker V2(Not recommended)

2)Upgrade to 3.71M33 using the Universal Unbricker V3.(Best option.)
