I have a UK Nintendo Wii which was one of those first released in 2006. I have recently had the WiiKey Modchip fitted but have not installed any Wiikey updates. I have backed up games such as Red Steel which work fine. I recently backed up Scarface and on playing this appeared to install an update. Everything still worked fine.
I have just got Madden NFL 08 which again wants to update the Wii.
Im concerned I may end up with an expensive brick if I update with this or any other game.
Can anyone tell me what to avoid in respect of games or is there a WiiKey update which will resolve any problems I may encounter.
Im looking to get Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty and other new releases.

if u do a system update prior to playing a new game for the 1st time this will ensure that you do not brick your wii

for mario galaxy u need to update the wiikey with 1.9gbeta in order for it to play.

i think prior to that u have to install 1.9b and config 1.3 its all on wiikey.cn site in resources
