ok guys, i cannot get img burn to write at 2X speed, i had this same problem with decrypter, i would specify the write speeed to 2X, and while it was burning it would say burning at 4X, every time it burns at 4X it messes up and leaves a gap in the cd, now i try img burn, and the same thing, this is frustrating, can you guys help?

Check what speeds your burner supports. Make sure you have the lastest firmware update for your burner. What kind of media are you using? Why do you need to write at such a low speed? What are you trying to copy? You may have a corrupted source file. Is there any programs running in the background which may interfer with the write? When was the last time you ran Disc Cleanup and defragmented your HDD? Please, provide more information.

First of all, this is not an application issue. Burn speeds are dependent on the type of media you have and the firmware of your buner. What are you trying to accomplish by burning at such a very slow speed? Get some good quality media and burn at half the max rate.

okay am trying to burn a dvd, i dont know what firmware is....
every time i burn a dvd at anything over 2X speed, there is a gap in the cd burn. For some reason I can only burn at 2X speed about half the time, i try to specify the speed and it still burns at 4X and screws it up, thanks for the help guys, any suggestions?

Please, tell us what brand and model computer you have. Such as, Hewlett Packard MEDIA CENTER M1090N with Windows XP PRO edition. Did you buy this computer new? Otherwise, someone may have changed/updated the optical drive/s. And the firmware update you try to install may be the wrong one. We can show you how to ID what optical drive/s are in your system. We can explain what firmware is later. But first, we need to know your equipment before proceeding.

To check your firmware version. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. Open ImgBurn> Tools> Drive> Check for Firmware Updates. A pop up window will tell you the firmware version you have.

Hello, ZoSoIV! This is true. Pretty sure both, DVD DECRYPTER and IMGBURN, are about the same exact programs? Only DVD Decrypter, is no longer supported or updated since 2002 or 2003? It's even getting harder to find download sites that still carry it. Since the OP is using IMGBURN, is why I suggested using this program. Thank you, for you comment.

yup pretty much the same program (has the same author) other than dvd decrpter has a ripper so you can rip an ISO file to you're HD and or use the program to backup a store bought dvd (older movies/older protection) or it works with help anydvd/ripit4me etc.

Download pages
These pages are only for advanced users. Bad flashing could destroy your drive definitively. Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!
DVD Region+CSS Free enables you to watch & copy region-coded/CSS-encrypted/ARccOS-protected DVDs on any (including RPC-2) DVD drives without flashing firmware. DVDFab Platinum (DVD copy software) also has such functions. Both software is safe and easy to use. Download a FREE trial!
