hi ,

i have been wanting to get into booktyping my disc as i hear this is the way to go , i have some trouble playing disc i get from around the globe and even thou i bunr them and make them region free i sometime still have trouble , so i was going to try to booktype and see what happens . teh burner i have is a sony dru-830 a and it is a 18 x burner and about 4 months old . thanks

try booktyping a DVD+R to DVD-ROM and see if it works, if it doesn't use the DVD dash R format for compatibility

Why are you having problems? For SL discs -R's work fine, I see no reason to pay more for the supposed more compatible bitset +R's. Remember +R's compatibility was inferior to -R's to start with. I paid a premium for some +R TY's once so I could bitset and ended up with problems I never had with -R's. For the most part any player that can't handle -R is probably junk anyway. :)
