Hello.

I have an ISO (though it can obviously be re-authored) of a film.

Somehow it ended up without chapter points.

What would be the easiest way to add some and then return it to being an ISO again?

I'd like to put them in every 5 or 10 minutes.

I cannot imagine it's too hard, but it's never really come up.

Thanks.

If the movie is a backup which has a menu, I don't know of a way to do it without losing the menu.

You can use 'DVD Shrink' to open the ISO, then save it to a standard DVD folder.
You can use 'DVD Styler', to load the VOB files from that folder, create a new menu and set chapter points.
It can then (optionally) output an ISO.

Another way;demux the VOB files in the (DVD Shrink) folder, with 'VobEdit' and use DVDAuthorGUI to Mux it back together with chapter points - the result is a DVD folder (no menu) which DVD Shrink can use to create a new ISO.
It takes longer to type this than doing it.

There is no quality loss in any of these steps, since no recompression takes place.

I looked at the "other" way (VobEdit and DVDAuthorGUI), because it seemed simple.

It was, but it seems to take a long time.

I might try the first method, but I am not sure how to use it yet. I am sure I can figure it out but, at the moment, it looks as though I can load a vob - rather than vobS at a time.

I hope it's quicker, in the end, though it's all good.

With DVD Styler, either highlight all the VOB files and while holding down 'Ctrl' key, drag them down to the window: or use VobMerge on the files to make them one large file.

There's an easy way to do what you want without demuxing/muxing and losing the menus. Either use VobBlanker or DvdReMake Pro to split into multiple cells and assign chapter to it.

VobBlanker: http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/guid...cells/index.htm

DvdReMake Pro: http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_insert_chapter.php

@toaddub
I just tried it with VobBlanker, worked great - no problems.
I used it on a movie using a Menu created by DVD styler (the default chapters are fifteen minutes) and changed them to five minutes - took about five minutes from beginning to end.
Tip-of the-hat!

@ Attar:

I tried that method but, like you, went with VobBlanker instead.

@ Toad:

It was almost idiot proof (almost, to anyone reading, means that the bar to place chapter points is not the bar at the bottom of the applications working window but the one top left), with that linked guide.

Some chapter points (here and there) might be a few seconds out, post-processing, but it's nothing to quibble with and I love that I found a method of inserting chapters that's so simple.

I'm sure to use it again.

Thanks!
