DVD Drive PROBLEM

Please help if you can, I also appologise if this is in the wrong forum.

I recently installed Win XP Pro onto a PC which is purely used offline. XP installed generic drivers for everything and all seemed fine until I needed to run a DVD...

The drive wouldnt work due to me having the wrong drivers so I came online and downloaded an update which when i came to install it requested I install 'Adaptec ASPI' so i got that and installed it, the checker on there reads that ASPI is installed correctly and working but the drivers still say 'install ASPI' regardless of how many times i restart the computer or uninstall and re-install.

can anyone please help?
