Okay, here is my plan that I'd like to run by the experts here.

I'd like to put together a custom demo disc of a nubmer of short HD-DVD clips from movies I own.

My plan was to:

1. buy an Xbox360 HD-DVD drive
2. rib the discs to my hard drive using AnyDVD HD to DVDfab HD decrypter (or any other suggested programs)
3. edit the movie cutting clips out of it and assembling them into a custom menu using NERO (does 7 or 8 support this)?
4. Burn the HD-DVD files/structures using NERO to a DVD-9.
5. Playing them back in a Toshiba XA-1

The big question are #3 and #4. Has anyone tried this? Is it pretty straight forward (as it is with a standard DVD.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I wasn't clear enough.

My intention was to burn the HD-DVD files onto a standard dual layer DVD. My understanding is that current HD-DVD can read high-def HD-DVD files / structures off of stadard DVDs. Obviosuly the toal play tome will be much shorter but it shoudl be more than sufficient for my purposes. Has anyone had experience with this?

Thanks,

Chris

Nero doesn't support HD DVD authoring yet, although there are two different specs for burning HD DVDs to regular DVD media. The first is called 3x HD DVD-ROM. It's apparently been tested on Toshiba HD DVD players, but right now there's no prosumer software that can author AVC or VC-1 to HD DVD. Until the necessary software is available you'll pretty much be limited to AVCHD (ie generic AVC). There's also another standard called HD Rec which is intended to be used by standalone recorders and DVRs. Unfortunately there's only a single product, a DVR only available in Japan, that can either read or write these discs.
