have you successfully, encoded movies before with your computer using the same methods you are now? tmpge will sometimes (rarely) crash when i am encoding a movie, but the movie is usually 98% or 99% done so i'm just missing some credits. usually before i encode with tmpge i will restart the computer and do control-alt-delete and kill everything except explorer, so i have less programs running while i am encoding, so in theory less chance of something messing up. so i would recommend restarting the computer then killing all the programs that are running or tweak msconfig so that no extra programs start up when the computer does

I am also having a similar problem with my copy of lord of the rings. Here's what I've done so far. I'm ripping the dvd with smartripper. This process works fine without any probs. I am having the identical problem with the encoding. I'm using Flask. I locked up around 60% of the encoding process. I have tried this at least 4 times so far. I have done a few dvd's successfully before with this process. So far I have downgraded to flask .594 and even reloaded my pc os after checking numerous sites. I have changed my flask settings and basically tried every variation in flask I could find with almost the exact same results. I had the same prob when trying to convert Resident Evil. Are newer DVD's being encoded in such a way to prevent converting. I also had this prob with my copies of Braveheart and Gladiator. Could it be something to do with the DVD being progressive or interlaced? Has anyone successfully converted a copy of lord of the rings?
