My drive not finding dual layer discs

I am trying to back up my 360 games but are having problems burning the discs.

I have got a dh16d2p drive using verbatim dvd+r dl discs. Every time i put the discs in the drive it will not pick it up and if i go to my computer if just says please insert disc into drive. The drive is brand new so i cannot understand why this is not working.

Please could someone help as i have been trying for a few weeks know and come to no conclusion.

I hate to bust your bubble, but this is a ROM and not a burner. I'm afraid you won't be burning DL discs anytime soon with this drive at all.
