Hey guys,
this is a stupid but simple question i think. I just installed a new dvd writer into my computer, and it works fine and everything, but it doesn't have the two little grooves on the side of it to lock it in place inside the computer like my last dvd burner did. So whenever i press the eject button, the dvd burner is pushed back into the computer and i have to pull it out by the tray. For reference its the Lite-On 20x Super All Write DVD RW Drive (LH20A1P186). It came with 4 little screws so maybe i have to screw it in somehow? It's just so frustrating because why wouldn't they have just put the grooves on the sides like my other one and made it easy for me.
there are two systems to put a drive in place, one is the universal 4 screw method, you put your drive into the metal bay and line it up with the 4 holes in the bay and on the drive, you then screw the 4 screws in, you may have a 2 screw only bay because you can only access
one side of the bay it works the same
one that it seems only dell uses is the plastic slide 'n lock, you unscrew the plastic sliders off your old drive and and screw them onto your new drive, then your just pinch the plastic handles down (to allow it to slide in) and then let go once it is in as far as it can into the drive bay, and it will lock snug into place,
WARNING: THE SCREWS THAT MAY HAVE COME WITH THE NEW DRIVE MAYBE (I DOUBT IT BUT IT DOES HAPPEN!!) TO BIG FOR DRIVE BAY, IF SO USE THE SMALLER SCREWS FROM THE OLD DRIVE,
