So far I have read from countless threads and I know a little bit about all the problems so far. Anyways I have a Jap Wii, semi-bricked, I have no idea what firmware it is but it can play back-ups just fine. And I have trouble flashing 1.9b, burnt using DVD+R, filechop, but got an error.

However, NOW I read that people have problems after updating with everything and having a 3.1 Wii.... Apparently they played SMG for a while and after that, back-ups would not work or they would get DREs, originals would work fine...Some people think that SMG update actually installs something else besides the 3.1 update which make ur wiikey useless.

So I'm kinda confused right now, I want to update my Jap Wii to 3.1 using SMG after flashing 1.9b and 1.9g. But 1.9b did not work. So I'm wondering if it is better to leave my Wii be, avoid games with updates or maybe use wiibrickblocker on the games? And then wait for better solutions to the problem? What I am more concern is whether I can play new games without any problems.

PS: I don't play SMG, at all. Not interested...:P
