Does Final Fantasy Tactics run slow from a memory stick?

I've just purchased a new PSP Slim and flashed it to 3.71 M33-3 and I'm trying to play Final Fantasy Tactics from the memory stick.

It's working fine and runs at full speed unless an special attack animation is playing. For example, at the very first fight of the entire game, Gaffgarion attacks using a special attack and while the animation plays the framerate seems to drop into the teens (eg. it slows down a ton).

Why are the animations playing so slowly?

Maybe because the game was compressed from ISO to CSO so that it'll take less space on yoru memory stick. If that's not the problem then try downloading the game again but not from the same guy that uploaded it.
