Ocean's Thirteen DVD Poor Playback

Quick story. Rented Ocean's Thirteen Widescreen Ed (regular DVD) from Blockbuster. The video quality of the movie is completely awful.

I've got top of the line HD gear, and I haven't seen a new (regular) DVD play back this bad...ever.

Anyone else out there? Is the retail (non-rental) DVD version potentially higher quality? It almost looks like the video quality was purposefully ruined...to get everyone to buy/rent HD version or not rent or something???

Just some thoughts; wondered if anyone had similar experiences. TIA for any feedback. Maybe I just have a bum disc...

mine was fine... if others played fine before and after I would look at the disc.
