Hi all. I have a 2.5Gb avi file which will play vision and sound on my PC but will only play sound on my standalone DVD/Mp4/DivX home player.

The problem is that when I insert the disc into the player, I get a message from the DVD player on the TV screen 'Resolution not supported"

The .avi file specs are :

1472x832
23 fps/24 Bit
1536 Kbps
xVid

Are there such convertors that I can use to convert this file to one that will play on the DVD player that I can watch on my 61cm PAL Flat Screen CRT.

Cheers Chris

Two things, your video is XviD and sometimes the players insist on DivX.
My DivX player's maximum resolution is 720x576, I assume yours has a similar restriction - and this is why I use DVD-RW disks to test this sort of thing.

You can try 'Any Video Converter' (free edition).
Begin with output as AVI, set size to 480x272 under video options and mp3 as the audio.

AVI ReComp is designed for making avi work on standalone players

from videohelp.com
"The program allows you to recompress your AVI files. Uses only XviD codec to recompression process. AVI ReComp can be very useful for users who want to clear their AVIs out of GMC or Qpel functions to prepare the clips for standalone DVD players. The program contains a feature of embedding subtitles into video. "

however the file will still use xvid

Just to let you know that the All Video Converter program worked fine. I was concerned about the audio side as it is a DTS production, so in the Audio field, I left it at 'Original"

Looks great on the big screen.

Thanks also spiesfan, will check out that program for future use!

Thanks Chris
