hey i have a original dvd not on a dvd but as a file and on my laptop it looks superb but now when i use my s-video wire it messes up everything lookes compressed i'm afraid if i burn this dvd it will have the same problem. i'm confused whether this is how s-video works or this is how the oringinal dvd is. please help. Thanks

the problem could be two-fold.
Firstly, S-video is a shit connection from computer to a TV.
Secondly, Is the video file you have the same size as it is on the DVD disc, or has it been compressed? A compressed movie will often look fine on a small laptop screen but blow it up on a larger screen and by S-video and suddenly it looks crap.
Your options could be to burn the file to a DVD and play it on a DVD player via Scart or component video connections. That would solve the S-video problem. If the file has been compressed, you can't put back what has been stripped away so might not lokk much better on a DVD player either.
