my problems are:
1) I cant see my games when they're in .cso (also in the ISO folder on the root)
2) corrupt games (which are not so corrupt in my pc) when im trying to play ps1 emulated games

Go HERE and follow the guide on getting your ISO/CSO files working properly.

The PSX games need to be converted to use on the PSP. You can not place a PSX game image onto the PSP and have it play. It needs to be converted to an EBOOT.PBP file.

Then place that EBOOT.PBP file into a folder (name the folder whatever the PSX game title is) then drag that folder with the EBOOT.PBP into the /PSP/GAME folder. Then play the PSX game via Game Menu Memory Stick.

HERE is an application that you can use to convert the PSX game into an EBOOT.PBP file.

yeah, ive read about your guide on the next page and i was about to comment at that... but the problem is, i still cant find the .cso files in the ISO directory. ive limited the names of the .cso to 3 letters and still nothing... tried reformatting for the nth time and still nothing... one thing that bothers me is that my mem stick was "unknown"

Then you probably have a fake memory stick. Where did you buy it? You get allot of fake Memory Sticks from Ebay. If you got it from a retail store then I suggest bringing it back and getting it exchanged for a new 1.

my dad bought it from overseas (and he's still there) but i dont think the stick would make it in time before he gets here... is it really the stick? it's just a plain storage space right?

It needs to say supported to be an official memory stick. Files ISO/CSO not showing up is a classic symptom of a fake stick. There is nothing you can do about it except returning the stick to get your money back.

update:

my friend's memory stick also reads as unknown but she can play games in her psp. her ver. is 3.71 M33-2

now, ive tried putting some songs into my memory stick but not all of my files are copied - some of it became corrupt.

ive read an update/ver of the firmware that it is a bug that when putting files and reaching a certain memory capacity the next files would be corrupt... what i dont understand is, i already have the latest firmware/update and yet, my memory still corrupts the files

Do you have another Memory Stick that you can test it with? How did you update the PSP to 3.71 M33-3 in the first place? With that memory Stick or a different 1.

If you have 1 memory stick that will work and the other doesn't then it isn't an issue with the custom firmware install.

Did you try your friends mem stick in yours? If it works then I think it's your stick that's the problem. If it doesn't work then it's probably faulty firmware. My mem stick says unknown but I haven't had any problems.

If the memory stick was an original 1 it would say supported under magic gate.

Another classic symptom of a fake is the Memory Stick will work but only up to a certain size. Lets say you have a 2GB memory stick and it is fake. It could work up to 500MB but everything after that will not show or be accessible on the stick.

So there is a possibility that you could use the stick to update since the files for that are small in size but when you go to add a CSO/ISO file it doesn't show because it exceeds the amount of space that the memory Stick actually has (not what it is advertised to be).

You do not have an Original or Official memory stick if the magic gate is unknown. Either it is a fake or a defective stick. Some can have a fake stick and have no issues where others can have issues. So just because others have sticks that say unknown and have no issues doesn't mean your stick would have no issues either.

This happens multiple times in this forum and members try and try to get it figured out till they go get another stick and the problem is fixed. So take my advice or not its your time thats being waisted.

The 3 main problems of an ISO/CSO not showing up is..

1) you don't have the ISO/CSO in the correct folder ms0:/ISO.

2) the file name is to long.

3) the Memory Stick is fake.

If you want to downgrade to 1.50 and reinstall the custom firmware then go HERE and download this file. Extarct it and place the RECOVERY folder into your GAME folder. Go into recovery menu and choose RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP
