I cannot access recovery mode for 3.52 m33-4, the recovery mode is needed to update to 3.71 m33-2. I have tried formatting the mem-stick and I have tried restoring the default settings. I still cannot access the recovery mode menu. Can someone please assist?

Why is recovery mode needed to update to 3.71 M33-2?

Can you boot the PSP normal?

If so then the recovery menu should work. Maybe you have an issue with the R-Trigger button.

In any case if you can boot the PSP normally you can update to 3.71 M33 then 3.71 M33-2/-3 without the recovery menu.

Go HERE and follow the guide.

@Hardball: I can run my psp normally, it's not bricked.
@larrylje: I've been hearing problems with recovery mode before, but I'll try updating to 3.71 first to see if recovery mode works then.

Why do you need to get into recovery mode?

In any case HERE is an application that will let you access recovery menu from the XMB.

So I can access the NO-UMD option.

and yes I have a legal copy of the game.

I do not condone pirating games.

You should be able to access the NO UMD option from the XMB anyway. Press the HOME button when at the XMB the VSH menu should come up (thats if VSH menu is enabled which the default setting is set to enable) and let you change the UMD MODE. Set it to Sony NP9660.

If you still have issues you would probably be safer to create a Pandora Battery and install 3.71 M33-2 with it.

HERE is a guide on how to create it which should be safer for you since your having issues with the recovery menu. This will install 3.71 M33-2 straight to your PSP.
