Hello, I have downloaded a music file through Minninova and want to burn it to CD, however,I get a message up saying "Windows Media Player cannot play this file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file". It also says it is in MP3 format sound.
Being considered a newbie still (thank goodness) I am totally confused! I've also tried RealPlayer and Sonic to no avail.
My computer has Windows XP Pro. SP2.(it's 1 yr. old) so I thought I had all the "good gear" on it necessary to go ahead without probs, but it seems not! more information is obviously needed, your help is greatly appreciated, thanks, regards.
PS Obviously this is my first go at this.

Try WinAmp for playing the file and Burrrn! for burning to CD.

Thanks for your replies. If I use WinAmp Pro, do I still need Burrrn? I have ImgBurn. It's very confusing at the moment!

ZoSoIV is right about imgburn and you can use WinAmp Pro to burn your discs. I've found that burrrn is an excellent program to burn though and sometimes task specific programs work better than a multi-faceted program.

Actually, WinAmp has a CD burning engine too. It can burn almost anything that it can play, the exception being certain DRM schemes that are rentals instead of purchases.

I'm suprised you haven't tried Burrrn! yet ZoSoIV, but then you've got that phat iPod to store all your music. I'm going the creaky route with my Xbox after the first of the year and put my whole catalog on there.

Still battling! I've now got Burrrn and Winamp, but where do I start?
I either get another "install" window with Burrrn, when I left click, or a "run as" window when I right click, which wants me to choose a user account, is that the correct procedure?
Is there another instruction page? I looked through the forums and other guides but can't find any.
Should I delete the music I want to burn and start again?
I'm looking at these programs cross-eyed at the moment:(

P.S. When I do click the "run as", I get "NSIS Error launching installer"....

What are you right clicking, the song as it sits in the folder?

This is how I do it. Open burrrn and either click "ADD" and browse to my music folder or, with burrrn open and my music folder open, drag and drop the files I want to burn into the burrrn GUI.

...Sorry, I didn't download that file as I said,I just *thought* I did!
Could you please start from the beginning, with what programs I need?
I have Winamp, Burrrn, ABC. I'm not sure where to start with Torrents either, obviously...wish I wasn't such a nong! but I suppose someone is learning from my mistakes.
Once again I looked in the forums and guides but I can't find the instructions I want. Thanks again.

Thanks Chiny, I finally downloaded with uTorrent and TorrentPond and had success with my music, now I just have to burn it. I am having trouble understanding in what order the programs work, a little more detail is required. Thanks again. I'm going to look into Nero.
...And hopefully now I will be able to complete my project.
P.S. I think Newbies have a hard time because they don't know what to expect, that is why visual help is very good..ah well!
