Simple!!!
Assuming you have custom firmware 3.71 M33-3,

Press HOME button.
Scroll down to the USB DEVICE and press <- (right D-pad button) until UMD DISC option shows. Now EXIT. Now insert your UMD. Connect your PSP to your computer. Now go to USB Connection, and copy the ISO.

There is no excuse NOT to mod! Don't follow the rules, make them!

I believe so. However, you need to press SELECT instead of the HOME button. Once you've copied the ISO file, I would recommend downloading YACC version .401. It's a ISO Compressor program, one the best as it includes CisoPlus! compression method. You don't need to know the details, just know it works very well.

Just so you know I have custom firmware 3.71 M33-3 and I have to press "select" to get the menu, I just wanted to say that in case someone presses "home" and nothing happens. :)

Are you sure you followed what he wrote? It should be there.

If not then go into recovery mode (turn off psp and press "r" button while turning on psp) select "configuration" then scroll down to "xmb usb device" and toggle it (press "x") to "UMD Disk"

DONT FORGET TO SWITCH IT BACK TO MEM STICK AFTER RIPPING YOU UMD.

to get to the recovery menu u need to hold the power switch up until the psp goes black and turns off, then let go off the switch,

-then hold r and turn on your psp(keep holding r)
-(keep holding r)go to configuration
-(keep holding r)go down down to xmb device or somethin' that says memory stick next to it
-(keep holding r)now click x on it, it should show at the bottom of the screen a change to some other device or flash0
-(keep holding r)keep repeating until you get to UMD DISC then exit the
recovery and got to usb from settings on ur psp and a file called UMDNP9660.ISO should show just copy that, and theres your ISO

Still nothing that says that...This is prolly why girls shouldn't do this stuff...

When i go to the recovery menu and into configuration i see the following...

skip sony logo
hide corrupt icons
game folder homebrew
auto run program at psp/game/boot/eboot
UMD mode (no umd)
fake region
free umd region
hard reset on homebrew

I'm running 3.52 m33 should i upgrade? If so how? Sorry to be a pain but I really want to learn this stuff.

Yep, you seem to be missing two lines. :(

I was going to suggest reapplying 3.52 upgrade, but if your willing to go to 3.71M33 then here's a guide for it... it's the one I used when I had 3.52M33. Just skip to the section for the firmware you have.

Update 3.71 M33-3 Changes:

- Fixed a bug in access to flash by usb.
- HEN core: kernel PRX?s with syscall exports work again.
- PSP Slim: programmers can set the size of user memory to 52 MB by using a sfo flag.
Check sample in SDK for usage.
- March33 NO-UMD driver:
* Fixed a bug that could hang the psp when exiting with home.
* Fixed compatibility issue with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, and maybe more games.
- Vshmenu: it wasn?t displaying properly with psp slim TV-OUT due to the change of resolution.

Basically it's more stable.
