i am pretty sure that this is possible, but my research seems to be coming to dead ends. I would like to boot back up games, or any burned disc for that matter, without a mod chip or a swap magic kit. i have a slide card, so i can switch discs without using the eject button, and i own a pressed copy of codebreaker(s) for ps2...i also own a pressed ps1 black bottom disc. I am wondering if i could boot the ps1 disc, as it boots swap the disc out with a burnt one, and have it load. if so when would i swap the disc? if that wont work, i have codebreaker, which from what i had read should alow me to use the slide card trick to switch discs, insert a burnt one, and play from there, but that isnt working...because when i am in the codebreaker menu, i hit play game, and a screen appears saying insert game, or whatever it says, but when that comes up, the disc drive automatically opens...wouldnt that make it so the ps2 will verify the next disc??? if it does verify it, will there be a way to swap discs with the slide card after i insert the valid ps2 game? (will there be a time when it stops spinning to do so?)

my main goals in all of this are to install a mem. card exploit to eventually be able to back up games to a hd. i have a hd, and network adapter, but i do not have the network setup for the ps2, but if i could get the codebreaker method to work i would be able to load a burnt copy of the network setup disc, right?

misc. info...ps2 fat, version v7, i believe its a v7 but ps2 isnt where i am right now, diff. house...i can confirm that tomorrow.

sorry for the long post, but i am at wits end with the nonstop searching, and so few answers, although i must say, most of the helpful answers i have obtained were from this forum,,,,,,, :-)

if your codebreaker can support usb flash drives, then you can create the memory card exploit. you don't even need the network adapter disc, just the network adapter itself. as for swapping games with codebreaker, it won't work. the disc must stay in the drive for it to be verified as a original ps2 game. since it automatically ejects, the system will verify the next disc no matter what. i've tried to swap with action replay MAX, since it doesn't eject the tray, but it will fail to boot the burnt disc.

most people use action replay MAX to transfer the exploit to the memory card. go to exploitstation.com for tutorials to create the exploit.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

AWESOME!!!!! thank you very much for a quick answer without making me feel like an idiot, lol...so basically it just uses codebreaker to get the mc exploit to the mc, rather than a cd, surprosed i overlooked that method, but w/e. thanks again...!
