Burn failure with Verbatim DL

Friend of mine is having problems burning Verbatim DVD+R-DL discs. I've no experience of these but I know they're a good disc and bought from a reputable supplier in the UK. The odd thing is that he has had success with these discs before (a different batch). I've checked both a good burn and a bad one and they both code out as MKM 001. The burn log is below. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

cut off disc at once and cut on high compatability mode. i would also recomend finalizing the disc(unless u want a multi-session disc) and setting booktype to dvdrom. the power calibration error could mean u need to clean ur burner lense or it doesnt like the media. be sure ur firmware is up to date.better yet, try using imgburn with dl media, thats what i use.
