error loading operating system? help?

whats up? i have windows xp and everytime that i turn on the computer i get this message "error loading operating system" what should i do. i am not completely computer illiterate but a step-by-step would be nice. i am completely without a computer!can someone please help? help would be very appreciated! thanks!

Depends on what system u have but there should be a BOOT menu u can load up in. Try loading up into safe mode. If this works try system restore.

Have you tried reformatting? Do u have the restore disc or do u have a 2nd HDD for restore?


What kind of PC do u have?
