ff8 Game saves / GAME ID : VERY CONFUSED!!

Hey,
I have a freeze in my ff8 during a FMV so there is no way to get by it.
i am running 3.71 m33-2 on a slim. w/ NTSC version of FF8

i have been reading threads but i am just getting confused.
I read game ID's can be changed and help the running of some games(FF8)

I have psxPSP and everytime i load up the eboot. and change the game ID(leaving the saveID the same) my save files are never found:

can someone give me a quick tutorial on how to do it properly??
Or
can i load the save file on the computer and run it on a emulator and just get past the one part??
