oh boy, i can only imagine what thats going to do for us....well im gonna prob go back to orig.bin until this is settled out....
what happened with the other dashboard update? did people get banned? did they put in new security?
heres a list of the new features....pretty impressive but im not going to be using the frineds shareing....im turning that off....i think its intrusion of your privacy

Yep, lots of functions there, only a fraction of which i would actually use. But since you really have no choice but to update i guess we will see what happens. As far as i am aware no dashboard updates caused any bans to happen.

Yep, no one will be available to avoid it. Even if you don't use LIVE, it'll be on a new release soon.
Now, something I've asked before but then never tried, is can we just delete or replace the update which is on the game disc.
When you open an image with WX360, you can see the update.
So, if we extract that folder, replace the file inside with gargabe or just delete it all together, inject the folder back into the iso, will the game work.
I haven't had any games ask me to update lately, so I haven't been able to try it.

well, never really thought about it to tell you the truth. But i suppose it is possible. Since game updates have never caused anyone problems i am not sure it is worth messing with, If anything it will be a dashboard update that does the damage if anything is going to happen. Plus since most people are hooked up to Live all the time i suppose MS could slap whatever they wanted on your machine at will, they are sneaky like that. Just look at PC's and some of the updates they have done in the past without even prompting the user to see if it is wanted. They just plain load you up with it.

Are these updates set in stone?Im likeing the one that says xvid,If im correct doesn't that mean divx and avi also.

no, i do not think the dashboard will change the firmware on your DVD drive and cause the backups to stop working. This is like the 3rd or forth one they have had so far.
Most interesting to me is the setting up of clans and launching multiplayer matches from the dashboard. I am in a gaming clan so that will come in handy on practice nights.
