I purchased Game Copy Pro along w/ the "free 1 yr. help support" and STILL getting no answer on how to back-up Wii games! So, basically it's absolutely worthless to me!
Soooo...been reading tons of how to threads for several weeks now and although I know we are not supposed to send a new thread when the same kind of questions have already been asked and answered but these have only confused more than before, for example---what in the world is a mod chip--is it something I have to buy---what else do I have to have/buy to make this happen. I thought purchasing the above mentioned software was it! I have a Sony Vaio FE Series w/ WinXP and built-in DVD -/+ burner. Don't know what kind of media to buy for back-ups!
I am so confused I don't even know what questions to ask or should ask about all this even after

IS THERE A KIND SOUL OUT THERE WHO has ENOUGH KNOWLEGE HE CAN EXPLAIN HOW TO DO THIS STEP-BY-STEP w/ very basic, SIMPLISTIC INSTRUCTIONS FROM START TO FINISH W/OUT USING "TECHNO LINGO" to a FRUSTRATED MOM tired of tossing out RUINED games!!!
This has been a month long nightmare and I just want some help to end this once and for all!!!!!!!!!
Anxious for a reply!

THANKS!

1) NO possible way to play backup wii games without a modchip fitted
2) No software can back up original wii games WITHOUT the use of a specific LG dvdrom drive ( read the stickies at top of forum for details)
3) You do NOT need this Game Copy Pro crap - I personally think its a bullshit software as it promises stuff it cannot deliver and is a con
4) You can download Imgburn free of charge, this will backup a backup or it will burn an iso image you download off the net as a backup to your original.
5) You need to use decent dvd-r or dvd+r discs to write images on although i recommend dvd-r
6) Do a search for wiikey or dc2key - these are the names of 2 modchips. It depends on how new your wii is and what chipset it has in it as wiikey works with d2a + d2b wii chipsets and D2ckey modchip works with d2c wiis

A Modchip is needed to play backup games. A Modchip is a piece of Hardware that is soldered onto the Wii DVD drive board. It circumvents the copy protection so you can play backup games that are not orginal.

Depending on the chipset your Wii has will depend on what Modchip can be installed into the Unit. Your best bet would to send it into a professional to install the Modchip itself.

You can go HERE and enter the Serial Number of your Wii and it will tell you what type of chipset it has then we can give you more information on what Modchip to get.

Burning the game once you have an ISO of the game disc is simple and can be done with pretty much any DVD Burner. The issue comes with reading the Original game disc itself. You need a specific model of DVD-ROM to do this. HERE is a guide and thread that explains the requirements and process a little more.
