I know that currently you cannot flash a hitachi 79 drive without a mod chip. I am curious if it may/will be possible in the future or if the drive is set up in such a way that it will never be possible. Basically, I bought the 360 because it was supposed to be easy to mod, firmware flash vs the mod chip method... only to find out that I havea lot 739 team CSON 360, that has a hitachi, so it is probably the 739. So basically, as it stands now, Id have to open it, install a mod chip, THEN flash it... which just seems..complicated. Just to understand my frame of mind... it was supposed to be easy (flash vs a mod chip) only to find out I'd have to install a mod chip, to flash it.
Not to mention, I am concerned about if it ever has the RROD problem, whereas if a system was just flashed, it could be made to look like it was never tampered with and sent back. However if a chip was installed anywhere, it would be obvious it had been tampered with.
Anyhow, like I said, I am not asking if its possible now, only if there are teams or anything working on making it possible.
there is a great team out there, they always said the benq drive would never be able to be software flashed. but they came out with something, it may have taken a little longer but they still came through. so i am sure now that every other drive is taken care of, they are working on something, just be patient and it will come.
Man I hope so... and yeah I will be patient, and see if I can find something about it. I would much rather just do a flash rather than anything hardware related to it.
Also, out of curiosity, what kind of car is your forum name referring to?
Actually, for his name, you cant isolate the HC there, its SOHC (Single Over Head Cam). My car is a 95 Neon SOHC... and Neons also have DOHC engines too (Dual OverHead Cam).
Cool, hopefully it doesn't take them too long to come up with a flash only method. Then again, although I am pretty sure my unit is a 79 model hitachi, maybe I should open it up and look just in case. It's weird, all the drives mentioned on 360drives.com or whatever have listed the lot 739 by cson as being benq drives, and I have a hitachi.
