can i change from xp home to xp media center and keep everything on my internal hard drive safe from being erased or do i have to back up things i dont want erased? if anyone knows i'm dying to do this as soon as possible but i dont want to loose all my files.

But be warned that media center PC's are usually built with specific hardware so it may or may not work the way you want it to.

Plus most of the things, if not all, you could add to your current system and get the same thing without WMC 05 installed.
