i have seen around that if you have a fat psp with firmware 1.5 you can just put the iso game in X:\ISO and it works. is it true?

no it's not
with firmware 1.5 you will need device hook to emulate a higher firmware and then load the iso ,but nobody uses device hook anymore

if you have firmware 1.5 it will be better to install a custom firmware

Nope it is not true sorry. But if your at 1.50, its easy to upgrade to a custom frimware like Smlvfx said.

install 3.52m33-2 then 3.71m33-2

You mean 3.52 M33-3 or higher, it won't work on 3.52 M33-2.
