I have successfully used DVD Shrink 3.2 to backup my DVDs and they play fine in my computer, however, when I put them in my DVD player when it gets to the point that it would normally read the disc it ejects it instead...any ideas?

What program are you using to burn and do the recorded DVDs just not play on you player or all players? Check one of your recorded DVDs on a friend's or family member's player that's known to play recorded DVDs well and see what happens. What brand and model player do you have and how old is it? The reason I ask is that I have an older Samsung that is supposed to play recordable media, but usually won't and I've got a newer Philips that plays just about anything.

Did you use a Decrypter?
Does your standalone DVD player support both DVD+R and DVD-R? Check which DVD blank your using.
Did you remove the region protection?

What all the questions boil down to is "are you having a hardware-media conflict"? The most common cause is an older standalone DVD player with older firmware that doesn't recognize the media you're trying to play in it. Some models only play particular recordable formats, such as -R or +R. Some simply can't handle the newer and faster media. That can show up with just some manufacturer's media or all. That's why I suggested trying your recorded discs in a newer player that's known to be good with recorded media. The new multi-format players are the best. A Philips similar to the one I have is available at Wal Mart's for about $40, which is a lot less than the older Samsung cost.

In retrospect I guess we should have asked is this a problem after having successfully recorded and played DVDs on your standalone or has the standalone never played recorded DVDs or just not from your laptop?
