Recently got my palwii chipped with the wiikey. its an authentic wii key. I have 1.9g firmware installed and 3.1 system update. I tried burning my first game, The Simpsons PAL, burnt it using Nero at 2.4x using a verbatim dvd. When I put it in, the wii recognises it as the simpsons game, but when I try to play the game the screen goes black. Funny thing is I can hear all the sounds still working, intro music etc., I just have a black screen. I have been playing an original version of SMG recently (before and after) and it works fine.
I'm thinking it might be linked to the VGA cable i'm using to play the Wii on my monitor. I've got the 'VD-W2 Wii VGA cable' from http://www.vdigi.com/ as I've only got a monitor with a VGA port, no component or RCA inputs. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any hints on why this might be happening? I know the cable can only output at the EDTV/HDTV setting and not either of the others. I figure its got nothing to do with the ISO and the media as the game 'seems' to be playing fine, the video signal just isn't getting through.
Ok, tried burning Raving Rayman Rabbits 2, or whatever its called, and it works fine. I'm guessing that its not related to my mod chip. Can anyone verify that The Simpsons PAL is capable of outputting on the HDTV/EDTV setting? Not just the 50 and 60Hz. Or point my towards a list that states what format each game can output in.
