I have been backing up DVD's for some time now and usually never have a problem last week, I tried backing up a few new movies that I had bought and Dvd shrink came up with a weird error This DVD appears to be R.C.E protected I have never had this problem in the past and I'm sure I have not downloaded anything new I also use DVD X-copy and that burns fine but the same outcome. The Movie always finishes completed no errors but when i put it in my dvd player it says no Disk I have used this media many times before. I am pretty lost and not sure what step i should take next. Any help or suggestions you could give would be appreciated. Sorry if I forgot anyhthing pretty new at this

Ryan, newer encryptions that shrink cannot handle. Try dvdfabhddecrypter free from www.dvdfab.com Use that prior to dvd shrink. Happy burning

On some new releases DVD Shrink is still choking on DVDFab's output, such as Hairspray. What movie is giving you trouble, you might need to use Nero Recode or a different program to compress your movie.

Ryan, are you backing up on a new computer with Vista as the OS? if so, this may be your prob. Also maybe your burner/drive is the prob(if it is an old one)

Choking = error messages

Sure it does, DVDFab is updated often to cope with the new copy protection schemes. Do you have Nero Recode? If you get a good rip with the latest version of DVDFab HD Decrypter, but DVD Shrink won't process the files try either Recode or the trial version of DVD2One and see if either one will churn through this title.

Rule of thumb, always use the updated version unless someone gives a legitimate reason not to. Updates are usually to add new features or address previous problems. As has been noted, Shrink 3.2 has updated features the older versions don't have. DVDFab HD Decrypter is constantly being updated for newer copy protections. So, use the last version of Shrink, 3.2 (which can be updated to support ImgBurn with a modified exe), and keep DVDFab HD Decrypter updated.
