NFS Pro Street sound not working!!

Hello ppl, i have a 60gb PS3 and the sound i have running through a optical wire to a 5.1 surround system. All games work perfectly like warhawk and COD4 etc but as soon a play on NFS pro street there is no sound what so ever, i have to change sound settings to hdmi and the sound then will work coming through the tv. So is there a setting im missing as the sound works on every other game except this one. A helping hand would be fantastic, thanks.
