Panasonic RV31 dvd-r media brand recommendation?

I've got a panasonic rv31 dvd player and i'm looking for a recommendation as to dvd-r media. i'm a newbie to this, but i've been reading the forums and read that different media brands may display different compatibility characteristics... i havent been able to find any definitive compatibility matrixes or reviews for my dvd player... any recommendations?

thanx alot for any pointers, advice, etc...
