Hello, I just upgraded to a DVD+/- RW drive which is listed as a 4+ DVD+/-R write speed,2+ DVD+/- RW rewrite speed, when I try to back up my DVD's I get an error (failed to backup at 2+ speed)how can I set my DVD RW drive to the 4+ speed?

What software are u using every step of the way? What technique are u using?
Tiz most likely not a burner mechanical issue.

Most RW media will write at 2.4x. If yours won't go faster than 2x, you might need to check into a firmware update.

I am using the shrink program, then coping from HDD. I copied (2) movies with my last drive without any problems a little slow but it worked! I am going to return this drive today for the one that did work, I was afraid of not having a multi-format drive so I sent the one that worked(DVD-r/-rw) back for one that did not work(DVD+-R/+-RW).FIRMWARE update you said, where can I get that? Thanks for the reply!

are you using a burning program or just trying to copy the files (drag and drop) from you hard drive to the dvd burner. If you are using a burning program, which one are you using.

I am sorry, I am using Nero (rom) prog, where I select and drag files to video_ts file I think it's called.It worked fine with the other drive(mad dog dominator 4x -r/-rw) but this drive does not play well with others.

which version of Nero?

I am using Nero Burning Rom 6 (Demo) I just reinstalled the original DVD-r/-rw drive and everything is good(so far) this drive comes with Nero Express 6, is Nero Burning rom 6 the same thing?Is there any tweaks out there to make my drive any better or faster?
drive is a dominator 6 in 1 4xDVD-r/-rw
made by mad dog multimedia and I think it is a toshiba SD-R5112. thanks
