I'm a total newbie when it comes to authoring DVD's; I've burned plenty of .vobs on both my mac & PC that I've either ripped or downloaded via bittorrent, but have never actually created such files or a video_ts folder. I'm trying to burn a DVD of home video as a Christmas gift, created a 1 1/2 hour film in iMovie with titles, sound & transitions, but when I try to send it to iDVD, it says the file is too large. (It IS over 20 GB!)
I was able to export it as an .avi and burn in Toast 8, but the quality was something like a 20th generation VCD! Exporting as mpeg resulted in even worse quality than that.
After searching the forums, I've learned that DVD2OneX can be used to compress the video... how do convert my iMovie files into .vob, .bup, .ifo files in a video_TS folder? That is not an offered option under expert settings in the export feature.
Am I being unrealistic thinking that this movie will fit onto a single disc? I can burn double layer discs on my iMac (though have only burned 4.7 GB capacity ones to date) I've always been led to believe that a single layer disc can hold 2 hours of video since I have many audience shot / authored DVD's of live concerts...
As I mentioned, I have Toast 8 to use for burning, but as I still need to add menus to my movie, had hoped to do so in iDVD.
