I want to take an existing DVD (in VOB format)and edit it and burn it to a new DVD.
If I use DUP-DVD, will that convert it to VCD and will a video editing program recognize that as an MPeg file and let me edit it that way or am I way off base??
Thanks for anyone's help

Is this a regular store bought dvd or something made or recorded as in a home movie? If it's a store type dvd, use dvdshrink (free download) to rip & decrypt to your HD, then you can re-author it (edit). Then use a program like Nero6 to burn back to blank dvd. You asked about VCD. No need to do that with this system. Guides can be found on this site. Jerry

It is a DVD that has home movies burned on to it by a store. They're all IFO, BUP & VOB files. I tried using DUP-DVD but after 3 hours it errored out saying it failed to copy. What is the simplest way to be able to take this DVD in to a video editing application and burn it back on to a blank DVD? Thanks

You could rip it as one big VOB then use something like ChopperXP or Wombles program (I forget the name just now)to edit the VOBs.

If you want to do complex editing then you need to Demux it into video and audio streams and then import these into your editing suite.

There is no audio. I want to add audio in the edit. I had hoped this would be a bit easier than wading through all of these other programs.

What are you using to edit?

If you rip the whole thing as one big VOB (a setting in DVD decrypter) then you can just change the file extension to mpg and import it into Vegas Video I have done this before and it works fine.
It may well work for other editing software.
