I am also having a memory problem. I used the DVDFab to decrypt the DVD and then I used the DvdShrink, but when it gets to like 37% it stops encoding. As for space, Im pretty sure I have enough, but for some reason it just stops. Did i decrypt the dvd wrong?

So...I read through the guide that Quickdraw placed regarding the use of DVDFab (thanks soo much, it helped). BUT, I am still encountering a memory error. I have decrypted the DVD (in this case Casino Royale) in file mode and also in ISO mode. But when I try to back it up using dvdshrink, it stops around 35% and says that there isn't anough memory to continue. BEFORE backup, a screen pops up to confirm how much memory it needs, and I have enough for it.
Is there another solution to my problem?

I do have DVDR's. This is the first time that im experiencing problems burning DVDs. Before using the DVDFab, I found out that the movie had a protection on it. Now that I've sort of figured out how to use it, I cant seem to backup the files.

If the problem is not the original DVD, decryper, or the burn speed. It may have something to do with shrink. When was the last time you ran a disk cleanup and disk defragmenter?
(Well, I only have DVD-R. Im not really computer smart. Is there a difference between disk cleanup and disk defragmenter?)
Switching gears now, try downloading DVDFAB PLATINUM, pop your movie into it and select movie mode. Let me know if you still have problems. http://www.dvdfab.com/download.htm
(Do you know if the platinum version will take out the "out of memory" problem? I was reading several other forums, and some people say that the platinum or gold version will solve this. I have also tried teh VobBlanker...and I really don't seem to understand how to use it. It looks really confusing even AFTER reading throught the tutorials. I just want to find a way to skip the VobBlanker and go straight to DVDShrink and then to Nero to burn) This will be my last post for tonight cuz I have work early in the morning. I really appreciate the help and I will be back on the forums for any further help that you can offer. Thanks QuikDraw =]

I did Casino Royale and there didn't appear to be any problems getting the rip with DVDFab or the AnyDVD ripper. Process the Full DVD using FixVTS to assure compliance after ripping the source. I vaguely remember some people having problems with Shrink, but that was due mainly to the size of the files. Deep Analysis and unchecking unneeded audio files took care of lowering compression within reasonable limits. Quality Settings should be used.
A bad press will cause a DVD to stop at a fixed spot where the errors are each time. It happens, but to have to at the same time is pushing the odds. Stuff happens though. If you have a driver decryption program (Region Free or AnyDVD) and disk utilities you can run a scan on the disc to see if there are bad sectors. Without the driver decrypter, encryption can show up as bad sectors.

You don't state that your version of DVDFab is upto date, or that you've tried the beta version as suggested. Also, you don't mention actually trying vobblanker (but want to skip it) or FixVTS as suggested, if you don't try any of the suggestions, how can you expect your results to be any different?
Here's a guide for using vobblanker with DVDFab, shrink and nero.
http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-rele...ro-Recode-2.php
AnyDVD is also a very good (try before you buy/pay to keep) alternative, install it, then use shrink as you normally would to create a backup.

If after trying all the suggestions, you still can't get a backup of your DVD, then I would suggest you return it for another, chances are that you've got a bad press.
@QuikDraw
Quote: Slow down your write speed to 4x. Do you have any DVD+RW's?
What does this have to do with the issue here?
Quote: The problem may be the DVD your trying to copy.
How have you come to this conclusion?

Well, I am using the DVDFab 4 edition I believe. I just downloaded the platinum edition and see if that helps with the memory problem. I will also try and use the Vobblanker.

Use the FixVTS instead of VobBlanker. Using Full DVD to process the program processes in place with nothing moved.

I'm getting the same thing. Doing Pirates 3. Ran it through DVDFab HD Decrypter 4.0.1.2, then tried shrink. Keeps freezing at 35%. Went through Vobblanker. Still froze. Went through FixVTS. Still froze. I was gonna try RipIt4Me but I already sent the disc back. Seems I'm at worlds end with this one.

You need to edit your post before a mod comes along and tells you piracy discussions are illegal on AD. You may want to check out the forum rules. As for the problem you're getting, it's usually the copy protection not being completely removed or something during the processing makes the files noncompliant. I've had DVDs work with some software and not with others. The important part is getting the cleaned source to work with. Sometimes different decryption programs work better than others and sometimes the files need further processing for compliance and sometimes further processing causes problems.
BTW, RI4M (version 1.7.1.0) in 1 click mode will rip Pirates 3 in Full DVD and open in Shrink.

Got it. Updated that HD DVDFAB to the new beta. It even says that they fixed the memory problem in the update log. So I didn't need to use my original that I purchased legally to rip it again. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome. Glad you got it. It's a rule of thumb to keep the backup software up to date, especially the decryption software.
