easier to upgrade older or newer hitachi drives?

hi,
ive been reading up on the older type of hitachi drives not even thiking mine coul be a newer one but judging by the records of when, where and etc it was made im pretty much sure its a 0.78 one.

is this easy to upgrade in comparison with the older hitachi drives?

does it involve any more hardware other than the SLAX disc, sata cable, sata PCI card and the xbox itself?

what PCI card will i need to run the 0.78 hitachi drive?

i have the hitachi 78fk and it was a breeze to flash. you just need the maximus toolbox (i used v4.5) and a slax 2.1 boot cd. i didn't even need to buy a pci sata card...i just used the one from my motherboard. if you need to buy a pci sata card, look for a card with the via 6421 chipset. make sure to NOT install the raid drivers. if you are in the US, the Syba Via 150 non-raid version from newegg works well.
