Ps2 v14 Laser Lens

I have a SCHP-75001 PS2 slim version that I bought about a year and a half ago (I believe it is a v14). Just recently it stopped working. What happens if I go to the browser is it will recognize the game is in there and I will click on play the disc, then it will display the Playstation 2 logo and the logo will disappear. Then it will start making noises which sounds like the disc starting to spin and stop spinning and it will continue doing this until I either open the cover or turn off the console.

I naturally assumed that this was a problem with the laser lens and tried to clean if off with a Kleenex. It worked once and I cannot get it to work again?

How can I fix this problem at minimal cost to me if possible?

try a softer cloth than kleenex is kinda rough

I suggest using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol (not dripping wet) and gently clean it. Then use the onther end to gently dry it. I've done it and it doesn't damage it.
