I am new to computers and I need help. I have a laptop and need to know what software I need to burn DVD's on to my computer and onto other blank disc's. I need help with DVD movies, not home videos or movies like that. I have been searching around and can not find anything. I just stumbled on this site while looking. Any help would be great. I am so confused..

If you are referring to backing up your DVD's, do this:

Rip DVD to the hard drive using DVDFab HD Decrypter
Insert disk, run program select 'Main Movie' or 'Full Disk'

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

The ripped files have to be compressed (shrinked) to fit a standard, blank, DVD-5 disk then burned to dvd.

Note:If you install DVD Decrypter, then this program can burn the files to disk after they have been shrinked.
Download and install DVD Decrypter.
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVD_Decrypter

Use DVD Shrink to shrink the files:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../dvd_shrink.cfm
Download, install and run.
'Open Files' choose the folder with the DVD files.
Click 'Backup!'
Choose 'Target Device' / 'Select backup target' > 'ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter'
File will be analyzed and shrunk to fit DVD.

Since I left this message I have downloaded DVD Shrink, AnyDVD, And am in the process of downloading nero 8 Trial I believe. I have windows vista if that matters. I tried to download DVD decrypter but it said it is no longer available. Since I can not get it what should I do? I will go get DVD fab right now while I wait for a response...

Below is DVDDecrypter: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

You can either rip the DVD to the HD using DVDFab HD Decrypter or AnyDVD's ripper function and then use Shrink to compress the files. Burn the iso image Shrink creates w/ ImgBurn as it is better than Nero and free.

Remember Google the item if one of the links are down and it is on the net

I used the dvd fab and then shrunk it with DVD Shrink. Now I can not figure out how to watch it. When it was done with dvd shrink the dvd decrypter wanted to burn. Is that what I will do when I am going to burn it on a disk???( I do not have any disks right this second)What is Imgburn for???

After the files have been shrunk, you can:
Save the files to an image file for later burning.
Save an image file and at the same time, burn a disk with DVD Decrypter.
Save the files to a hard disk folder for later burning.

If you have Nero installed you may also opt to burn the disk with Nero.

ImgBurn is a burning program.
It can burn disks from hard drive folder files or image files.

If you don't have any DVD's on hand for burning, just save the output to the hard drive in a folder.

The output can be played back with a media player.

If your using WMP Try 'VLC' instead.
Run it, click 'File' 'Open Directory' or 'Open File'.
