ok is your work computer not allowing you like restricting or does it not have the ability to run video files (no media player, codec's aren't supported, hardware issue??)
what computer are you going to run the wd on , work or home?
right click on the desired video files you want to play and select the properties option, tell me the the file type
you can run video files off the wd, but only if the computer has a media player/codec that supports the file extension, so basically if you couldn't run video files off your work computers hard drive then you can;t run them off the wd connected to your work computer. we can find a way to run the video files on your work pc if you'd like

thx man well it's a DELL pc and is using XP it has Windows Media Player but won't play any of my avi's cuz of codec mostly. and yes I don't have admin status so i can't install anything
Restart the computer.
At the first boot screen,
Hit, F8 on the keyboard. Tap it so your sure to get it.
Then select, "Safe Mode"
login as account name "Administration" no password
and make your account into an administrator account
control panel>user accounts
