but im getting the problem with both drives. Do you reallt think it could be that? Could it be a software issue? Or some kind of setting?

That's a pretty old version of Nero. Is it an oem version or a full version. You should update to 6.6.0.18 if possible.

http://filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539 or
http://www.digital-digest.com/software/d...97&ssid=0&did=2

I would also try a different burning engine like ImgBurn (free). If that works you'll know the likely problem is with Nero. Are you autoburning from DVD Shrink? Nero Recode?

http://www.imgburn.com

Using whatever authoring software you want, create either a folder of DVD files (IFO, BUP, VOB) or an (ISO) image file. If you have a folder of DVD files, use the Build mode of ImgBurn to create a disk ISO image. Then use the Write mode of ImgBurn to burn the image to disk. If you have an image file outputed from your authoring program, proceed directly to the Write mode of ImgBurn.

I think you have another thread going about this very same issue. Anyway, try updating your firmware to 1.22, and see if that helps.

It appears you got a hardware error (SCSI_ERR) before the media error. One could cause the other. If you've got another drive you can swap out, that would be the quickest way to find if the drive is the problem or not. Check the cables as well.

Normally MCC is good media, but any manufacturer can have an occasional bad run. As mentioned the easiest check is to make sure the firmware is up to date and try some different media if the firmware doesn't help with the media you're using.

Thanks for all the replys. So dont know if this helps but again i wrote a data disc using the same discs using nero. Not a movie but a dvd full of mp3's about 4 gb worth and it wrote to the disc no problem. So it will write if its a data disc but it wont write my movie files. heres the pic.

Dont know if this is relivant but media player always used to play my original movie discs but then stoped giving various error messeges. heres an example.

I did that and since then media player 11 will now play dvds but i still cant write my films to them.

Dont understand what you mean i thought my firmware was up to date in fact i no it is are you talking about updating somthing other than my drives? check out this pic it shows my firmware rev.

Also you mentioned GSpot in the other thread i didnt really understand it but i scanned the biggest file in the folder where the film is and here are the results. :>

I have 6 cake tubes of 50 and have tried a disc out of each 1 they all fail.

So to recap. Both my drives work and will write data to the datawrite dvd such as mp3 but will not write the films all fail at 0%. I have now updated nero aswell. Ill add anouther log aswell if that helps?

Thanks for all the help. :>

Using CloneDVD output an ISO file instead of burning. Burn the outputted image with ImgBurn at 4X using the Write mode. If this doesn't work you have a hardware problem or conflicting drivers, etc.

Edit: text added below

It is possible to be able to burn CDs and not DVDs if the hardware is faulty. I think the Pioneer firmware is up to date. The HP 300n I'm not sure about. I'm guessing maybe this one came bundles in your system as HP doesn't have a link for it. Any updated firmware would be available from the system manufacturer if it came with the system. Both burners are fairly old in burner technology years.

If you have a friend or relative with a system and the above fails, it would be a good idea to take your burner out of your system and install it in theirs. If it works in another system, your system is corrupted and needs reinstalling. If not, you'll know the burner is likely faulty.

Edit: more added below

Check your cabling and make sure it is seated firmly in the motherboard socket as well as the burner socket. Uncable the HP 300n for the time being.

At this point instead of wasting more disks, either get a RW to use or install the burner in another system to verify it works OK for DVD burning.

You need to install this burner in another system to verify that it works without fault there. If it does work faultlessly, backup your data, reformat your HDD, reinstall the OS, and only those program you actually need.

I see there's some agreement with my earlier post. Laddyboy is right on checking the drive by swapping it out. I'd also suggest trying another drive known to be working in the computer where you're having the problems. That would indicate if you have a system problem or drive problem with that particular system.

Ok this might pi55 you off me saying this but here goes.......

My wife who has lived with me through this problem got tired of it and brought some Asda own brand DVD+r home after shopping. Anyway I plonked one in and BANG burned no problem at all. Both of my drives ( i have 2 ) wont write to the datawrite "problem" discs but will on the asda discs what do you think this means?!!

Gulp! cheers!

sanecrazy,
Here's my response to you on another duplicate thread which can be found here.

Quote:
sanecrazy,
There have been numerous claims about Pioneer DVD burners (Pioneer 110, even WITH LATEST FIRMWARE being one of them), not performing up-to-par when writing data with these type of media, Datawrite. They (Datawrite) are more supported by TSSCorp and other writers. On contrary, others said that they work just fine and haven't encountered any problems, and had successful burns with minimal coasters. Reading your posts on this thread, I'm inclined to think that you have yet to try different media. That's the only direction I see, since you've tried the same media on two different burners and stumped with the same issue.
Pardon me if my post is a little off tangent as I can't view the pictures on your first post. I'm currently at work :)

The very first thing you do with that error is check to make sure the firmware is up to date. If updating the firmware you then retry the media being used to see if that helps. If not, then you try new media before going farther. That's what I was saying in my earlier post. Others have been saying this, but I've seen this thread hope from one spot to another. That's why you start at one end and move forward intstead of jumping all over the place. Had you done that, you would have found out early on that you either have bad DVDs or a compatibility problem.

It doesn't upset anyone that your wife solved your problem for you. Had you followed the right check sequence, you'd have been there long ago. I think some of us were assuming you'd already done the initial checks. Only after exhausting the media checks, you start looking to software and hardware.

Now that you know the drive works with different media, take some of the media you were using that caused your problem and see if it will work properly on another system with a different brand drive. You may simply have a batch of bad DVDs.

Not today. We're here to try to help, not make anyone feel uncomfortable or insulted. I was just pointing out that methods using systematic deductive reasoning should be applied when solving problems. Drop back anytime when you're needing help. You'll be welcome.
