DV Camcorder suggestions please..

I'm looking to pick up a DV camcorder for my GF for Christmas but I have NO CLUE what to look for.. I'm looking to spend around $500.00 to $600.00.. I'm not really looking for anything great I just want to record some home video's then put them on DVD with a good picture..

I have a Sony 4X DVD burner and firewire to connect the cam already.. I just need a good cam..

I did a little research but still have no real clue..

Any help would be great..
