Blu Rays playing as full screen not widescreen.

I have a 54 inch 720p Samsung and a PS3 and my Blu Ray movies are playing in full screen. Is it a setting in my TV or my playstation. I have it set to letterbox in the PS3 and it still shows as full screen. Thanx in advance.

First of all, when you say full screen, do you mean (4:3, like SDTV) or does the hi-def picture fill up the entire screen? If the hi-def picture is filling up the screen, it's supposed to be like that. Additionally, it should not look distorted.

If the picture is (4:3), it must be a setting on your tv. Look on the remote or somewhere in your TV menu. If it is this setting, then your picture probably looks distorted. However, I've never come across a blu-ray movie that is filmed in 4:3. This is why your predicament is odd.

Yes. Just like on my HDTV there should be a button you press on your remote. Mine is called screen mode I think.

Sorry. My mistake. I thought my Meet the Robinson's was widescreen. It says it is 1.78:1 so I assume that is full screen. My Live Free or Die Hard says it is 2.40:1 and that plays as widescreen. Thanks for trying to help.

That has got to be the first blu-ray I've heard of in 4:3 ratio aspect.
