I found a Sony HDD for the PS2 for free from a store I go to and I was wondering what I could do with it. I was reading on exploitstation and SKSApps about it stuff, but it confused as to where to go, what to get and what to do. Here's the model and stuff:

Sony Hard Disk Drive 40GB
SCPH-20401
Model: ST340015A
Firmware: 3.01

I want to play to able to play homebrew, or even ISOs of PS2 games. Please help, thanks.

you need a sony network adapter which will act as the connection between the PS2 and the hardrive.
You will need some software such as HD Advance which will enable the HDD to be formated, if it needs to be, and to add the game ISO's.
Note, it quicker to add game ISO's from your PC rather than by putting a disc in the PS2 and tranfering that way.
To do this I use a USB to IDE adapter cable and plug the PS2 HDD into my USB.
Windows will not recognise the HDD but some software called WINHIIP will. This software will enable you to select iso game files on your PC and transfer them to the PS2 HDD, or visa-versa.
