i have an old ps2 which i havent played in some years due to a DRE......but it still comes on , but no matter which disc (dvd, or ps2, or ps1) it always gives the DRE

so my question is..........if i can find a Hdd could still play games without recieving a DRE

and even if i get a HDD , do i neccessarily need a ps2 Hdd or could i just get a pc Hdd and format that

and where is a manual or instructions for this if any ?

if you don't get a modchip, then you'll have to replace the laser because you need a trigger cd to load the hdd.

if you have a modchip with flash memory, then you can store the ps2 executable files (.ELF) on the chip, and bypass the laser completely.


also, you can use a standard IDE hdd for the ps2; sata is NOT compatable, even with a ide adapter. there is no space for the adapter. you will need the network adapter to attach the hdd to the ps2.
