Does ban cause xbox freezing?

I was banned on the infamous first night of bans in November. Since that night I immediately encountered my first TRROD. I simply rebooted my console and it now constantly freezes with either a black screen or vertical stripes. Is this caused by the software update that banned my console? It seems strange that I never had a single problem with the console until this night and now I cannot play for more than five minutes with a freeze.

I ordered the x-clamp from Germany just in case if I ever have TRROD with either this or my next console. But I have no idea what is causing the current problem.
